We were just about too late to see any Dogwood blooms in East Texas. Daingerfield was far enough North to still have some blooms . Upon returning home, we were surprised to see that our own pink dogwood was in in full bloom! This is the best we've ever seen it! |

The areas around Ennis which normally are wall-to-wall with bluebonnets were particularly disappointing this year. This little pond on Union Hill Road between Bristol and Crisp was about as good as we saw. |

A second trip down to the Palestine - Rusk area provided some nice scenery, but no spectacular wild flowers. Crimson clover is getting started and is mixed with paintbrush. For lack of a better destination, we stopped by the Texas State Railroad station in Palestine where I snapped these old depot freight wagons. Brought back some memorys. |

I couldn't resist snapping a picture of this series of signs at the entrance of the park! "He Tried to Cross As Fast Train Neared Heaven didn't claim him he volunteered! Burma Shave!" |
